The Maruki Gallery is preparing to launch a worldwide fundraising project to care for and preserve the Hiroshima Panels for future generations. As a first step, we are fundraising for the project to “Create Virtual Tours to Share the Hiroshima Panels” on the GlobalGiving Accelerator Program.
GlobalGiving is the largest global crowdfunding community which connects nonprofits, donors, and companies. During the Accelerator campaign period (June 8th – 26th), we need to raise at least US$5,000 total from a minimum of 40 different donors in order to graduate from the program and secure a permanent fundraising spot on the GlobalGiving platform (donations are tax-deductible in the US/UK). This will help greatly when we launch our Global Preservation Fund for the Hiroshima Panels.
We decided to focus our first fundraising effort on this virtual tour project because at the moment, it is necessary to physically visit the Gallery to see the works and feel the messages of the Marukis, as virtual tours and digital archives are not yet available. However, physical visits to the Gallery have become more difficult due to the spread of COVID-19 and we are seeking the ways to share the unique works we hold.
Creating virtual tours and a series of videos will make the Marukis’ works and the Gallery itself accessible to people all over Japan and globally for the first time in the Gallery’s history. This project will enable new demographics from around the world to be immersed in the works of the Marukis and be inspired by their universal message.
You can visit the project page to learn more details and sign up to receive updates about this project. For more information on the Maruki Gallery and the works of Marukis, please visit the links below.
Thank you very much in advance for your involvement and support!
