Maruki Gallery presents a solo exhibition by Toshihiro Kanehira, a painter living in Kiryu, who has portrayed the aftermath of tsunami and TEPCO’s nuclear-related accidents as well as the issue of the U.S. Military Base in Okinawa in his paintings. Kiryu Chokanzu (A Bird’s-eye of Kiryu) is a large-scale painting depicting the Japanese Islands from an aerial view of Kiryu. Looking closely, embedded in the painting are the locations of nuclear plants and the number of nuclear reactors situated in the Japanese Islands.
