The 29th Hatsukaichi Peace Art Exhibition

As part of the 80th anniversary of the Postwar Non-Nuclear Peace Project, the 29th Hatsukaichi Peace Art Exhibition Iri and Toshi Maruki: The Hiroshima Panels – Passing on the Experience of the Atomic Bombings will be held at the Hatsukaichi Art Gallery in Hatsukaichi City, Hiroshima from the 27th of July to the 17th of August. Open every day during the exhibition period. Admission is free. In conjunction with the exhibition, there will also be a panel display on the devastation caused by the massive typhoon that struck the Ōno Army Hospital after the atomic bombing

The exhibition will feature works including Ghosts and Rainbow of the Hiroshima Panels, as well as sketches for the series by Iri and Toshi Maruki, and a painting of the atomic bombing by Suma Maruki. Archival materials such as posters and flyers from the nationwide tour in the 1950s will also be on display. Additionally, newly discovered materials from earlier this year will be publicly exhibited, including early documents from the Hiroshima Victims’ Association (Hiroshima Tsūshin or “Hiroshima Correspondence”) and correspondence from notable figures such as Sankichi Tōge and Chihiro Iwasaki.
